Kekaha Kai
State Park is located in the Kailua-Kona area a few miles north of
the Kona International Airport and contains two beautiful beaches. We first visited the Manini'owali Section or "Kua Bay" at the northern section of Kekaha Kai Park that can be easily reached by traveling on a freshly paved road. At the end of the paved road, there is a small parking lot and the beautiful Manini'owali white sand beach. Then we drove back to Hwy 19, continued further south to the Mahai'ula Section of Kekaha Kai Park located just 2 miles north of the Kona Airport. At the end of the 1.5 mile "unimproved" dirt/rock/lava road, there is a small dirt parking lot and a golden sand beach. |
