Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on the
Big Island of
Hawaii. It is located on the Kohala Coast north of Kona and just
above
Hapuna Beach. The luxurious Mauna Kea Beach Hotel offers public access to the beach but the designated parking lot has a limited number of spaces. We were initially told that the public parking lot was full but to check back in 15-30 minutes. Luckily, someone left just as we made the u-turn to leave and the guard waved us in. Now that I've seen the excellent snorkeling and scenic view at Mauna Kea Beach for myself, I would definitely spend at least an hour constantly checking with the guard for a parking spot.
