| For our
visit to Taveuni, known as the garden island of
Fiji, we flew from
the city of Nadi on the main Fijian island of Viti Levu to the TVU
airport in the town of Matei. The airport was only a minute taxi ride or a few minutes walking distance to our accommodations at Bibi's Hideaway plantation style resort. During our stay, we easily walked to most of the area's attractions such as Maravu Beach, Prince Charles Beach, Jewel Bubble Divers, and the Coconut Grove Resort restaurant. Located about an hour taxi ride away from Matei is Bouma National Park where we went on the Lavena Coastal Walk and the Tavoro River Waterfalls Hike. Some of the other hotels or resorts in the area include Taveuni Palms, Matei Pointe, Nakia Resort, Matei Lagoon, & Maravu. |

| If you turn right as you exit the Matei TVU airport you'll find the following places in this order: Coconut Grove Resort & Restaurant, a fruit/snack stand operated by a very friendly Indian man, Audrey's Coffee House, two beer/convenience stores, and finally the largest grocery store in Matei. The grocery store is about the size of a standard gas station snack/beer store. | ||

| If you turn left as you exit the Matei airport, you'll find these places in the following order: Taveuni Palms Resort, Bibi's Hideaway, a small convenience store with a pool (billiards) table on the front patio, Maravu Resort, Maravu's Beverly Beach, Beverly's Campground, Jewel Bubble Divers scuba diving company, Tramonto Restaurant, and Prince Charles Beach. | ||
