This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the 2009 Honda Accord LX Premium sedan in replacing the overhead map light bulbs.

Owners of other eighth generation Honda Accord coupe or sedan vehicles from 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012 should also find this guide to be useful.

Other Honda vehicles such as the Civic, Element, Insight, Pilot, Fit, CR-V, Ridgeline, and Odyssey may have similar overhead map light bulbs replacement procedures.

A replacement map light bulb from Sylvania and other manufacturers is part # DE3022.

If you would like to have brighter map lights, install some compatible DE3022 LED bulbs.

The only tool needed to replace one or both of the overhead map lights in a 2008 to 2010 Honda Accord is a small flathead screwdriver.

DE3022 Light Bulb
To remove the clear plastic cover on the overhead map light bulb, you'll need a small flat head screwdriver.

Gently pry off the cover by inserting the screwdriver into the small gap in between the cover and the rest of the overhead console.

The cover is held in place by four delicate plastic hooks.

Once you get the first clip unhooked, use your hand to gently pop out the rest of the retaining clips.

With the lens cover removed, you can gently pry out the old Kelly 12V 8W light bulb using the small flathead screwdriver.

Then push in the new # DE3022 map light bulb and test it by pushing on the light switch button.

If you are installing an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, try flipping it around in the socket.

Re-install the map light cover by first inserting the edge closest to the outside of the car and then gently popping in the other side on to the retaining clips.
