Gently Pry Out Lens Cover
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the second generation (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014) Nissan Murano SUV in changing a burnt out map light bulb in the overhead console or upgrading them both to brighter LED units.

Owners of other Nissan or Infiniti vehicles such as the Versa, Maxima, Juke, Rogue, Altima, Xterra, Pathfinder, Sentra, Cube, Armada, Leaf, Quest, Frontier, Teana, 370Z, GT-R, Titan, G25, G37, M35, QX56, QX60 and M37 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement bulb is part number 2825 which are available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko and PIAA. (The OEM bulb was a Toshiba 12V8W and Sylvania lists the compatible bulb as being number "175".)

You may also be able to use any other miniature wedge base bulbs such as the # 158, 168, W5W, 194 or a compatible LED unit.

The only tool needed to change the bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry out the translucent plastic lens cover.

Old Bulb Exposed
To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, you may choose to cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth.

Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in between the rear edge of the lens cover and the overhead console.

Gently pry out the lens cover and set it aside in a safe place.

If the old bulb was recently turned on, be careful, since it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Grasp the old bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.

Push a new miniature wedge base bulb such as the # 2825, 168, W5W or 194 straight in to the socket.

You can also use a brighter compatible LED unit.

Line up the lens cover and gently snap it back in to place.

Test New Map Light Bulb
Test the new map light bulbs by moving the rocker switch to the "On" position.

I'd recommend setting the "On / Door / Off" switch to the "Door" position so that the map lights will turn on when ever a passenger door is opened.
