This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the 6th generation (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and perhaps also the 2021 model year) Hyundai Elantra sedan in changing a burnt out low beam, high beam, front turn signal or front side marker light bulb in either the driver or passenger side headlight assemblies.

Owners of other Hyundai, Genesis or Kia vehicles such as the Sonata, Accent, Veloster, Ioniq, Kona, Nexo, Venue, Tucson, Santa Fe, Palisade, G70, G80, G90, Soul, Sportage, Niro, Sorento, Telluride, Rio, Forte, Optima, Stinger, Cadenza, K900, Sedona and Seltos may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement light bulb part numbers are as follows: Low Beam # 9005, High Beam # H7, Front Turn Signal # 2357A and Front Side Marker # 2825 (or W5W).

No tools are required to access and replace any of the light bulbs. A flat head screwdriver might be helpful for turning the side marker bulb socket.

The first two steps are to open the hood and move to the side of the vehicle with the burnt out light bulb.

The low beam light is situated near the outer middle area of the headlight assembly. The low beam light's lens resembles a cloudy eye.

Test New Headlight Bulbs
Rotate the plastic cover 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction to secure it into place.

To test the new light bulbs, turn on the headlights, activate the hazard signals and flash the high beams.

Tip - If you installed any LED bulbs and they don't work, try reversing the electrical connectors or pull the light bulb out of the socket and rotate it 180 degrees before pushing it back into the socket. Some LED bulbs are "polarized" and will only work when the "+" positive and "-" negative electrical contacts are in the correct orientation.

Be sure to write down the bulb change in your vehicle's service records.
