Rear of Light Housing |
Pull Out Rubber Socket |
The first step is
to move to the side of the SUV with the burnt out side marker light. The side marker light housing is located on the front bumper cover near the front tire's wheel well and the front quarter panel. Remove the single screw that holds the black plastic access cover in place by turning it counterclockwise with a Torx T25 star bit screwdriver. Set the screw aside in a safe place. Gently swing open the hinged access flap up towards the top of the wheel well. Locate the black rubber light bulb socket. Gently pull the rubber light bulb socket straight out of the housing. You may need to wiggle or slightly twist the bulb socket to detach it. |

It might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.
Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket. Push a new number 2821 light bulb straight into the socket. (It is also known as part # W3W.) If you would like to have brighter side marker lights, install some compatible 2821 LED bulbs. |

Line up the rubber
bulb socket with the housing and gently push it back into place. Make sure the rubber socket is securely in place. Swing the hinged access cover closed over the wheel well liner. |

Test New Side Marker |
Re-insert the screw
and tighten in the clockwise direction with the Torx T-25 screwdriver until
it is snug. To test the new light bulb, turn on the headlights to activate the front side markers. Be sure to record the bulb change in your SUV's service records. For more, please check out my other
