| The 2011
University of Florida Homecoming Parade was held at noon on Friday
November 4th in Gainesville, Florida. This year's theme for the 88th annual homecoming parade was "There is nothing like The Swamp" inspired by the 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz". Police officers on motorcycles started off the parade which headed east on University Avenue from Gale Lemerand Drive near Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to Main Street in Downtown Gainesville. A few of the parade's highlights included the UF Marching Band, the UF Color Guard squad, the UF Cheerleaders, the UF Gatorettes twirling dancers, Gator Growl Star comedian Joel McHale, UF Mascots Albert & Alberta, the UF Army & Navy ROTC and local dignitaries riding in convertible cars. |
