This
automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners
of the third generation (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012)
Toyota RAV4 in replacing a burnt out overhead dome light bulb or
upgrading the bulb to a brighter LED unit. Owners of other Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles such as the Corolla, Camry, Matrix, Yaris, Tacoma, Prius, Tundra, Sienna, FJ Cruiser, Venza, Highlander, Avalon, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, IS 250, ES 350, GS 350, RX 350, FR-S, iQ, tC, xB, and xD may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A replacement dome light bulb is part # DE3175 from manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko, and Putco. You can also use a brighter compatible DE3175 LED bulb. The only tool needed to access the dome light bulb is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry out the lens cover. |

The first step is
to sit in the rear passenger area of the vehicle.
Then insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in to the two notches at the front edge of the translucent plastic lens cover closest to the On / Off / Door switch. Gently pry the lens cover at each of the two notch locations and set it aside in a safe place. Press the metal release tab on the left (driver side) of the socket to release the old bulb. |

Test New Dome Light Bulb |
Test the new dome
light bulb by sliding the switch to the "On" position. Line up the plastic lens cover over the dome light housing. Insert the rear edge first and then snap the other side in to place over the On/Off/Door switch. Slide the switch to the "Door" position so that the dome light will illuminate when ever a passenger door is opened. For more,
