San
Antonio is located in the south central area of Texas in Bexar
County. It has the distinction of being the 7th biggest city in the
USA and the 2nd largest city in the state of
Texas. The city of San Antonio is populated by over 1.5 million residents and is home to a variety of Fortune 500 Companies such as Tesoro Petroleum, QWest Communications, Valero Energy, Luby's Cafeteria, Clarke American, Ultramar Diamond Shamrock, Southwest Research Institute, Frost National Bank, Southwestern Bell, Taco Cabana, USAA, and HEB Grocery. San Antonio was named after the Portugese Saint known as St. Anthony by a Spanish expedition that arrived in the area on the saint's feast day, June 13th, in 1691. Another distinctive quality of San Antonio is the US Armed Forces presence including Randolph AFB, Camp Bullis, Kelly AFB, Fort Sam Houston, Lackland AFB & Brooks City Base. |
