This automotive
maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the second
generation 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Nissan Qashqai
and the 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Nissan Rogue Sport (USA) in changing
a burnt out low beam, high beam and front turn signal light bulb in the
headlight housings. Owners of other Nissan, Infiniti or related Renault vehicles such as the Rogue, X-Trail, Note, Versa, Altima, Maxima, Sentra, Juke, Kicks, Murano, Pathfinder, Armada, Frontier, Titan, Quest, NV200, Q50, Q60, QX50, QX60, QX80 and Renault Kadjar may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement light bulb part numbers for the 2014 and 2015 Nissan Qashqai are as follows: Low Beam # H11, High Beam # H7 and Front Turn Signal # WY21W (also known as 7440NA or 7440A). The compatible replacement light bulb part numbers for the 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Qashqai and Rogue Sport are as follows: Low Beam # H11, High Beam # H9 and Front Turn Signal # WY21W (7440NA or 7440A). Please check your owner's manual and verify the part numbers on the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) light bulbs in your SUV before purchasing new parts. If you'd like to have brighter low beam headlights and front turn signals that will also last much longer before burning out like the traditional halogen and incandescent bulbs, install some H11 LED and WY21W LED bulbs. The tools needed to access and replace the light bulbs in the driver side headlight assembly include a flat head screwdriver or a pop rivet removal tool and either a 10mm socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet or a Phillips head screwdriver. To access the bulbs in the passenger side housing, you'll just need the flat head screwdriver or pop rivet removal tool. For this tutorial, we'll start on the driver side and then switch to the passenger side at the end of the page. In order to easily access the headlight bulbs on the driver side, you'll have to remove the air intake assembly attached to the radiator cover at the front of the engine bay and the front of the engine air filter box. |

The OEM low beam light bulb part number in this 2020 Rogue Sport was Philips H11 LL (12V 55W).
Install New Light Bulb |
1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Push On Power Plug |
Try to avoid touching the glass part of the new
halogen bulb with your fingers or anything greasy in the engine bay. If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol. Install the new number H11 light bulb into the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction. Push the electrical connector straight on to the base of the new low beam light bulb. You should feel or hear the power plug "click" securely into place. If you'd like to have brighter low beam lights, install some compatible replacement H11 LED bulbs. |

1/4 Turn Counterclockwise |
Old Light Bulb Removed |
Part # Philips H9 |
Rotate the base of the old high beam light bulb
1/4 turn in the counterclockwise direction before pulling it straight out of
the housing. The OEM high beam light bulb in this 2020 Rogue Sport was part number Philips H9 (12V 65W). (Note - The earlier 2014 and 2015 Qashqai model years were equipped with H7 high beam light bulbs.) |
||
Empty High Beam Housing |
Insert New High Beam |
Push On Power Plug |
Avoid touching the glass part of the new halogen
high beam light bulb with your fingers. If you do get it dirty, wipe it
clean with a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol. Install the new number H9 bulb into the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction to secure it into place. If you have a 2014 or 2015 Qashqai, the high beam light bulb should be part number H7 according to the owners manual. Push the electrical connector straight on to the base of the new high beam bulb. You should hear or feel the connector "click" securely into place. |

Long Gray Plastic Tab |
Grasp End of Handle |
The front turn signal light bulb is situated
near the inner corner of the headlight housing. Locate the long gray plastic handle with a piece of black electrical tape on it. Rotate the handle 1/4 turn in the counterclockwise direction before pulling it straight out of the housing. |
||
1/4 Turn Counterclockwise |
Pull Out Bulb Socket |
Old Light Bulb Exposed |
Tilt the socket up in order to access the old light bulb through the opening next to the black plastic radiator cover.
Empty Bulb Socket |
Old Light Bulb Removed |
Push In New Light Bulb |
Carefully pull the
old light bulb straight out of the socket. If the old bulb feels stuck in the socket due to corrosion (rust) or debris, try gently wiggling it back and forth before pulling it straight out. Avoid using excessive pressure on the old bulb to prevent it from breaking and cutting your fingers. The OEM front turn signal light bulb in this 2020 Rogue Sport was marked as part number WY21W which is the same as the 7440A or 7440NA bulbs. Push a new number WY21W light bulb straight into the socket. If you'd like to have brighter front turn signals, install some compatible replacement WY21W LED bulbs. |
||
Empty Bulb Housing |
1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Lower In Air Intake |
Clean off any
grease or oil from the glass part of the new bulb. If there is any oil on
the new bulb, it could create a hot spot and lead to the bulb burning out
prematurely. Re-insert the bulb socket back into the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction to secure it into place. If you installed LED bulbs, I recommend testing them before replacing the air intake assembly. Tip - If you installed an LED bulb and it doesn't work, try removing it from the socket, rotate it 180 degrees and push it back into the socket. Some LED bulbs are "polarized" and only work when the "+" positive and "-" negative electrical contacts are in the correct orientation. Lower the air intake back into place. |
||
Air Intake In Place |
Spin In Black Metal Bolt |
Tighten Bolt Clockwise |
Spin in the black
metal bolt a few turns by hand in the clockwise direction to prevent it from
becoming cross threaded. Tighten the bolt by turning it in the clockwise direction with the 10mm socket and a 1/4" drive ratchet. (You could also use a Phillips head screwdriver to tighten the bolt.) |
||
Pop In Plastic Fasteners |
Air Intake Secured |
Test Driver Side Bulbs |
Make sure the
smaller round buttons in the center of the two black plastic fasteners are
in the up and released position. Re-insert the two fasteners into the holes at the front edge of the air intake assembly. Push down the buttons in the middle of the fasteners to secure the pop rivets in place. |
||
Passenger Side Headlight |
Remove Plastic Fastener |
Pull Out Filler Tube |
If you need to
replace the light bulbs in the passenger side headlight housing, you'll need
to detach the windshield washer filler tube for easier access. Use the flat head screwdriver to gently pry up the smaller round button in the center of the fastener to unlock it. Then lift out the base of the plastic fastener. Gently pull the windshield washer fill tube out of the reservoir. (A small amount of washer fluid might leak out.) |
||
Windshield Washer Fluid |
Replace Plastic Tube |
Test Passenger Side Bulbs |
Once the washer
fluid fill neck is out of the way, you'll have easy access to the low beam,
high beam and front turn signal light bulb in the passenger side housing. To test the new light bulbs, turn on the headlights, flash the high beams and activate the hazard signals. Be sure to record the bulb change in your SUV's service records. Please
