This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the sixth generation (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, & 2016)
Mitsubishi Mirage in changing a burnt out brake, rear turn signal or
reverse light bulb in the tail light housings. Owners of other Mitsubishi vehicles such as the Lancer, Outlander, Galant, Montero, Eclipse, 3000GT, Endeavor, Raider, Diamante, Attrage, Carisma, Colt, Grandis, Magna, Pajero, Space Star and the updated 2017 Mirage may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement light bulb part numbers are as follows: Brake Light # 7528 or P21/5W, Rear Turn Signal # 7506 or P21W and Reverse Light # 7506 or P21W. The tools needed to access and replace the tail light bulbs include a Phillips head screwdriver and a plastic automotive panel pry bar tool. |

Pry Off Tail Light Housing |
The first two steps
are to open the tailgate cargo door and then move to the side of the vehicle
with the burnt out tail light bulb. Remove the two screws along the inner edge of the tail light assembly by turning them counterclockwise with a Phillips head screwdriver. Set the two screws aside in a safe place. The tail light housing is still held in place by a slot attached to a pop rivet head and also a metal peg or "spike" inserted in to a plastic grommet. Use a plastic pry bar tool to gently loosen the two fasteners along the outer edge of the tail light housing. Try to avoid using excessive force to prevent from cracking the plastic tail light assembly or scratching the paint. |
