This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the 1st generation (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013) Kia
Soul in changing the front windshield window wiper blades. Owners of other Kia and Hyundai vehicles with similar windshield wiper assemblies such as the Forte, Cadenza, Rio, Optima, Sedona, Sorento, Sportage, Sonata, Accent, Elantra, Veloster, Azera, Tucson, Santa Fe and Genesis may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. Replacement wiper blades with their sizes in inches are as follows: Driver Side 24" and Passenger Side 20". A few compatible replacement wiper blades with their part numbers are as follows: Bosch 24A & Bosch 20A, Anco 31-24 & Anco 31-20, Rain-X 5079280-1 & Rain-X 5079277-1, Michelin 8024 & Michelin 8020 and Trico 25-240 & Trico 25-200. No tools are needed to change the wiper blades. |

Bracket Release Tab |
Press In Release Tab |
Pull Down Mounting Bracket |
Lift the wiper arm
off the windshield until it stays in the raised position by itself. It would be a good idea to place a towel on the windshield to protect the glass from being cracked or chipped just in case the wiper arm falls down while you are changing the blade. Rotate the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm at a slight angle. Press in the small black plastic release tab on the mounting bracket at the center of the wiper blade. Pull the old wiper blade down off the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm. |
||
Rotate Blade Perpendicular |
Pull Blade Off Arm |
Rotate Bracket At Angle |
Rotate the old
blade perpendicular to the wiper arm and pull the hook through the hole in
the center of the blade. I recommend buying the Bosch 24A and Bosch 20A wiper blades since they have excellent reviews on Amazon. Rotate the mounting bracket in the center of the new wiper blade at a slight angle. |

Line Up Metal Hook |
Pass Hook Through Blade |
Slide Bracket In Hook |
Insert the metal
hook at the end of the wiper arm through the hole in the center of the new
wiper blade. Slide the mounting bracket in the center of the new wiper blade in to the metal hook on the end of the wiper arm. |
||
Pull Blade In To Hook |
Rotate Blade Parallel |
Lower Arm To Glass |
Continue pulling up
the new wiper blade until it clicks securely in to place on the metal hook. Rotate the new blade parallel to the metal wiper arm. Gently lower the wiper arm back down to the windshield. For the best wiper performance, I recommend thoroughly cleaning off the windshield and applying a glass treatment product such as Rain-X. For more, check out my other
