This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the second generation (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015) Kia Sorento SUV in changing a burnt out dome light bulb in the headliner above the 2nd row of passenger seats.

Owners of other Kia and Hyundai vehicles such as the Optima, Forte, Cadenza, K900, Rio, Sportage, Sedona, Soul, Elantra, Veloster, Sonata, Azera, Tucson, Santa Fe, Genesis and Equus may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement festoon or "fuse" type light bulb is part number 6461 which is about 35mm to 36mm (1.38") in length.

You can also use the similar 6418 bulb or a compatible LED.

The bulbs are available from a variety of manufacturers such as Sylvania, Osram, PIAA, Eiko, Wagner, Pilot and AGT.

The only tool needed to change the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry out the translucent plastic lens cover.

To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces you may choose to cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth.

Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in to the notch at the front edge of the translucent plastic lens cover.

Gently pry out the lens cover and set it aside in a safe place.

Pull Out Old Bulb
If the old bulb was recently turned on, be careful since it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Grasp the old bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.
