Pry Out At Notch
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and also the face lifted 2016 model year) Kia Rio in changing a burnt out light bulb in the glove box.

Owners of other Kia and Hyundai vehicles such as the Optima, Forte, Cadenza, K900, Sorento, Sportage, Sedona, Soul, Elantra, Veloster, Sonata, Azera, Tucson, Santa Fe, Genesis and Equus may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The replacement bulb for this 2014 Rio sedan is part number 2825 (W5W). You can also use a brighter LED.

Earlier model years may use a "festoon" or "fuse" style bulb which is part number 6418.

The only tool needed to replace the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry out the light housing.

Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in to the notch at the front edge of the glove box light housing (closest to you).

Gently pry out the front edge of the light housing and remove it from the glove box.

Pull the white plastic electrical connector straight off the base of the housing.

(The connector on this 2014 Rio didn't have a release tab or button. So it just slides right off.)

Gently pop off the black plastic rear cover on the light housing.

If the old bulb was recently turned on, be careful since it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Either pull out the old bulb with your fingers or carefully push it out of the socket with the small flathead screwdriver.
