Pry Out Lens Cover At Notch
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013) Kia Forte in changing a burnt out dome light bulb in the headliner above the rear passenger seats.

Owners of other Kia or Hyundai vehicles such as the Optima, Cadenza, K900, Sorento, Sportage, Sedona, Soul, Elantra, Veloster, Sonata, Azera, Tucson, Santa Fe, Genesis, Cerato, Spectra, Accent, Sephia, i20, i30, i40 and Equus may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement "festoon" or "fuse" style bulb is part number DE3175 (31mm in length) from manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko and PIAA.

You may also be able to use the slightly larger # 6418 (35mm), 6423 (36mm), 6411 (41mm) or a compatible LED unit.

The only tool needed to replace the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry out the lens cover.

Pull Out Old Bulb
To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, you may choose to cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth.

Insert the blade of your flathead screwdriver in to one of the two small notches on the front edge of the lens cover.

Gently pry out the lens cover.

You may need to re-insert the screwdriver in to the other notch and pry again to fully remove the lens cover.

Try to avoid using excessive force. The lens cover should pop out relatively easily.

If the old bulb was recently turned on, be careful since it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.

Push In New DE3175 Bulb
Push a new # DE3175 festoon style bulb straight in to the socket.

Tip - If you are installing an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, try pulling it out and flipping it around in the socket.

Test New Dome Light Bulb
Re-insert the tabs on the rear edge of the lens cover in to the housing.

Then gently snap in the front edge of the lens cover.

Test the new dome light bulb by moving the rocker switch to the "On" position.

Move the "On / Door / Off" rocker switch to the middle "Door" position so that the dome light will turn on whenever a passenger door is opened.
