This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016) Jeep Patriot SUV in changing the front windshield window wiper blades.

Owners of other Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat and RAM vehicles such as the Compass, Renegade, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, 500, Town & Country, 200, 300, Pacifica, Challenger, Charger, Dart, Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan, RAM 1500, C/V Tradesman and ProMaster Van may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The OEM wiper blade sizes in inches are as follows: Driver Side 21" and Passenger Side 21".

A few compatible replacement windshield wiper blades with their part numbers are as follow: PIAA 95053, Bosch 21A, Rain-X 5079278-1, Michelin 8521, Valeo 900211B, Trico 25-210, Silblade WB121S and ACDelco 8-4421.

Slide Bracket Off Hook
The first step is to lift the wiper arm off the windshield until it remains in the raised position by itself.

Then rotate the old wiper blade away from the metal wiper arm at a slight angle.

Press the small black plastic tab in towards the metal wiper arm to release the wiper blade's mounting bracket.

Slide the mounting bracket down and out of the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm.

Rotate the old wiper blade until it is almost perpendicular with the metal wiper arm.

Pass Hook Through Opening

Line Up New Wiper Blade
Pass the hook at the end of the wiper arm through the opening in the center of the old wiper blade.

Place a towel down to protect the windshield from being cracked, shattered, chipped or scratched just in case the metal wiper arm smacks down on to the window while you are replacing the wiper blade.

I recommend buying the Bosch 21A wiper blades since they have excellent reviews on Amazon.

Line up the new wiper blade with the metal wiper arm. The rubber blade should be facing up and away from the windshield.

Lower Wiper To Window
Pass the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm through the opening in the new wiper blade.

Rotate the new wiper blade until it is parallel with the wiper arm.

Pull the mounting bracket at the center of the new wiper blade up and in to the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm.

Double check that the new wiper blade is securely attached to the wiper arm.

Gently lower the wiper arm down to the windshield.

For the best wiper performance, I'd recommend thoroughly cleaning off the windshield and applying a window treatment product such as Rain-X.
