This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020) Infiniti QX60 luxury SUV in taking off the plastic interior door panels in order to upgrade the OEM speakers, add soundproofing material, fix a faulty electrical switch or change a broken power window motor.

Owners of other Infiniti and Nissan vehicles such as the JX35, Q50, Q60, QX30, QX50, QX80, Pathfinder, Murano, Rogue, Armada, Kicks, Frontier, Titan, NV, NV200, 370Z, GT-R, Leaf, Maxima, Altima, Sentra and Versa might also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The tools needed to take off the door panels include a plastic pry bar tool, a small flat head screwdriver, a Phillips head screwdriver or a 10mm socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet.

The OEM front door speakers are held in place by four bolts that can be removed with either a Phillips head screwdriver or a 10mm socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet.

The first few steps are to lower the power window and fully open the door.

Pry out the small trim piece located behind the chrome silver door opener handle with a small flat head screwdriver.

Set the trim piece aside in a safe place.

Then move to the door pull handle / storage well in the armrest.

Pry out the plastic cover on the back side of the well with the small flat head screwdriver.

Set the cover aside in a safe place.

Remove the bolt located behind the door opener handle by turning it in the counterclockwise with a 10mm socket attached to a short extension bar and a 1/4" drive ratchet.

You could also use a Phillips head screwdriver.

Remove the two bolts in the center of the armrest by turning them in the counterclockwise direction with the 10mm socket, an extension bar and the 1/4" drive ratchet.

(Again, you could also use a Phillips head screwdriver.)

Swing the cable out away from the rear of the door panel and lift the metal bar out of its socket.

Then pull the plastic collar on the lower cable out of the "C" shaped bracket.

The speaker is held in place by four screws that can be removed with a Phillips head screwdriver or a 10mm socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet.

The OEM front door speaker can be replaced with aftermarket speakers in the following sizes: 5 1/4", 6 1/2" and 6"x9".

Some aftermarket speakers may require a mounting bracket or modifications to the door frame.

I highly recommend applying some Dynamat sound deadener to the metal door frame and the back side of the plastic door panel to help stop any vibrations or rattles when you crank up the volume.

To replace the plastic door panel, hold it near the metal door frame and tilt the top edge towards yourself.

Slide the electrical connector for the switch panel straight into its socket.

You should hear or feel the connector "click" securely into place.
