This automotive
maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first
generation (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020) Infiniti QX60
luxury SUV in locating the release lever and opening the hood to check the
oil level on the dipstick or fill the windshield washer fluid. Owners of other Infiniti and Nissan vehicles such as the JX35, Q50, Q60, QX50, QX80, Pathfinder, Murano, Rogue, Armada, Kicks, Frontier, Titan, NV, NV200, 370Z, GT-R, Leaf, Maxima, Altima, Sentra and Versa might also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The first step is to open the driver's door. Locate the hood release lever at the bottom left of the dashboard close to where the driver's left knee would reside while driving. Gently pull back the bottom of the plastic handle towards the rear of the SUV. You'll hear the hood latch make a loud "pop" sound. |

Move Handle To Left |
Move to the front
of the SUV. You'll see that the hood is slightly ajar from the front bumper cover with about one inch of space between them. Look in and locate the yellow rubber cover on the end of the hood latch release handle. Use your index finger to move the yellow handle to the left (passenger) side of the vehicle. |

Hold the yellow

Pull Out - Check Level |
To check the oil
level in the VQ35DE 3.5 liter V6 engine, locate the dipstick on the front
left corner of the engine just behind the left side fan.
Pull the dipstick straight out, wipe it clean with a paper towel, fully re-insert it and then pull it out again to check the oil level. The oil level should be close to the "H" (High) line or at least above the "L" (Low) line. If the oil level is below the "L" (Low) line, pour in some SAE 0W-20 oil and repeatedly check the level on the dipstick until it reaches close to the "H" line. The procedure should be very similar or the same for the hybrid models with the 2.5L I4 engine. |

Windshield Washer Fluid |
Brake Fluid Reservoir |
3.5L V6 Engine |
If you need to fill
the windshield washer fluid, the gray plastic cap on the bottle is situated
on the left (passenger) side of the engine bay in front of the coolant and
power steering fluid reservoir bottles. The brake fluid reservoir is located at the right rear corner of the engine bay close to the windshield. If the brake fluid level is below the "LOW" line, pour in some new DOT 3 brake fluid until it reaches the "HIGH" line. If you'd like to check the coolant level in the radiator, allow the engine to fully cool off before opening the radiator cap. If the coolant in the overflow bottle is below the "LOW" or "MIN" (minimum) level, pour in some new Nissan Coolant. Do NOT check the coolant level in the radiator when the engine is hot! Please
