in the headliner of a 1st generation 2012 to 2017 Hyundai Veloster.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the first generation (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and
2017) Hyundai Veloster in changing a burnt out dome light bulb
located in the overhead housing attached to the headliner. Owners of other Hyundai or Kia vehicles such as the Elantra, Sonata, Azera, Santa Fe, Tucson, Accent, Ioniq, Genesis, Tiburon, ix20, i20, i30, i40, Veracruz, Optima, Cadenza, K900, Soul, Niro, Sportage, Sorento, Sedona, Rio, Forte and Spectra may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement "festoon" style light bulb is part number DE3175 which is available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, PIAA and Eiko. There are also brighter DE3175 LED bulbs available. The only tool needed to access and replace the dome light bulb is a small plastic pry bar tool or a flathead screwdriver. |

Old Light Bulb Removed |
To prevent from
scratching the plastic surfaces, I recommend either using a small plastic
pry bar tool or cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber
cloth. Insert the blade of the plastic pry bar tool or a flathead screwdriver in to one of the two notches on the front edge of the lens cover (near the rocker switch). Gently pry out the lens cover. You may need to re-insert the tool in to the second notch on the front edge of the lens cover. Try to avoid using excessive force. The lens cover should pop out relatively easily. Set the lens cover aside in a safe place. If the old light bulb was recently turned on, be careful when you remove it. It might still be hot enough to burn your fingers. Grasp the old bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket. |

The old OEM light
bulb was marked as part number "KHA 12V83 26L15C. Push a new number DE3175 festoon light bulb straight in to the socket. Tip - If you installed an LED bulb and it doesn't work, try removing it and flipping it around in the socket. |

Test New Light Bulb |
Re-Insert Plastic Tabs |
Close Lens Cover |
Move the "On / Door
/ Off" rocker switch to the "On" position to test the new light bulb. Line up the lens cover with the light housing. Re-insert the two small tabs on the rear edge of the lens cover back in to the housing. |

Snap In Retaining Clips |
Testing Dome Light Bulb |
Rocker Switch - "Door" |
Gently pop in the
retaining clips on the front edge of the lens cover to secure it in place. I recommend moving the rocker switch to the "Door" position so that the dome light will illuminate whenever a passenger door is opened. For more,
