This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 & 2010) Honda Odyssey minivan in changing a burnt out courtesy step light bulb located at the bottom of the plastic interior front door panels.

Owners of other Honda or Acura vehicles such as the Accord, Civic, Crosstour, CR-V, CR-Z, HR-V, Fit, Element, Insight, Pilot, Ridgeline, Clarity, Crosstour, Elysion, ILX, TSX, TLX, TL, RLX, RDX, NSX and MDX may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement miniature wedge base light bulb part number is 194.

You can also use a brighter 194 LED unit.

The only tool needed to access and replace the light bulb is a small plastic pry bar tool or a flathead screwdriver.

To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, I recommend using a plastic trim removal tool or you can cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth.

Insert the blade of the plastic pry bar tool in between the rear edge of the translucent plastic lens cover and the door panel.

Gently pry out the lens cover.

Try to avoid using excessive force. The lens cover should pop out relatively easily.

Set the lens cover aside in a safe place.

Pull Out Old Light Bulb
If the old light bulb is currently on, or was recently illuminated, be careful when you remove it. It may be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Grasp the old light bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.

Line up the lens cover and gently snap it back into place over the light housing.

If the new light bulb didn't turn on immediately after you pushed it into the socket, re-activate the interior lights by pressing the "Unlock" button on the key fob.
