This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the
third generation (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 & 2011) Honda CR-V in
changing a burnt out vanity mirror light bulb in the sun visor or
upgrading them to brighter LED units. Owners of other Honda or Acura vehicles with such as the Pilot, Insight, CR-Z, Accord, Civic, Fit, Crosstour, Odyssey, Ridgeline, TSX, ILX, TLX, TL, RLX, RDX and MDX may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A few compatible replacement filters with their part numbers are as follows: TYC 800003P, K&N VF2001, Fram CF10134, Mann-Filter MC 1008, Wix 24815, Purolator C35519, Premium Guard PC5519, Denso 453-2026, Pentius PHB5519, ACDelco CF159, Ecogard XC35519, Beck Arnley 042-2023 and Bosch P3875. No tools are needed to replace the filter. A wet/dry shop vacuum can be useful for cleaning the existing element. |

Pull In Both Side Walls |
Release Plastic Side Stops |
The first steps are
to sit in the front passenger seat, open the lower glove box and empty out
the contents. Then move to the outer right side of the glove box and pop off the black plastic damper arm towards the front of the car. Firmly push together the two side walls towards the center of the glove box until the two plastic side stops can be removed from behind the dashboard. |

Filter Access Cover |
Push In Release Clip |
Lower the glove box
down to the floor mat. Gently push in the release tab on either side of the filter access cover. |
||

Slide Out Filter Tray |
Filter Tray Removed |
Slide the filter tray straight out of the slot in the blower motor housing. | ||
|
||
Inspect Both Sides |
Pop Filter Out of Tray |
Filter Removed From Tray |
Pull the old filter
out of the black plastic tray and inspect both sides. If the old filter is relatively clean, just tap out the large debris and remove any fine dust with a vacuum. If the old filter is dark grey or black and clogged with dirt, dust, insect, leaves, twigs, hair and pollen, it should be replaced with a new one. I recommend buying the Fram CF10134 "Fresh Breeze" cabin air filter since it has excellent reviews on Amazon. I also like how it has Arm & Hammer baking soda and carbon in the filter to stop musty or moldy odors from the A/C system. |

Filter Slot In Blower |
If the new filter
has an "Air Flow" arrow, make sure that it is properly orientated when you
insert it in to the filter tray. There are two downward facing arrows on the front of the filter tray that indicate the "Air Flow" direction. |
||

Push To Secure Two Clips |
Slide the filter
tray in to the slot with the "Air Flow" arrows pointing down to the floor
mat. Gently push in the filter tray until the two retaining clips click securely in to place. Double check that the filter tray is secure before moving on to the next steps. |
