How to change a burnt out overhead map
light bulb in a 1st generation 2009-2014 Dodge Journey SUV with pictures.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the 1st generation (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014)
Dodge Journey SUV in changing a burnt out overhead map light bulb or
replacing them both with brighter LED units. Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge and RAM vehicles with similar map light housings such as the Town & Country, 300, 200, Avenger, Challenger, Charger, Dart, Durango, Grand Caravan, Ram C/V Tradesman and 1500 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A replacement bulb is part number 578 from manufacturers such as Sylvania, Eiko, GE and PIAA. The only tool needed to access the bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry open the hinged lens cover. |

Pull Out Old Map Light Bulb |
Locate the small
notch at the middle of the left (driver) side of the translucent lens cover. Insert the blade of your small flathead screwdriver in to the notch and gently pry open the lens cover. Swing the hinged lens cover open to the right (passenger side). Grasp the old map light bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket. If you want a direct replacement traditional incandescent bulb, buy the Sylvania 578 light bulb. |

Push in a new #
578 "festoon" or "fuse" style light bulb straight in to the socket. Test the new bulb by pressing the black plastic "On/Off" button. |

Test New Map Light Bulbs |
Swing the hinged
lens cover from the passenger side over to the driver side to close it. Gently snap in the left side of the lens cover. Test the two map light bulbs by pressing the black plastic "On/Off" switches. For more, check out my other
