Pacifica Electrical Fuse Replacement Guide
How to check or change a blown electrical
fuse in a 1st generation 2017, 2018 and 2019 Chrysler Pacifica minivan.

This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2017, 2018, 2019 and probably also the 2020 and 2021 model years) Chrysler Pacifica minivan in checking or changing a blown electrical fuse or a faulty relay in the engine bay electrical panel. Owners of other FCA (Fiat Chrysler America) vehicles from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM or Fiat such as the Town & Country, 300, 200, Charger, Challenger, Durango, Journey, Grand Caravan, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Compass, Renegade, Patriot, RAM 1500, RAM ProMaster City, Fiat 500 and Fiat 124 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The Pacifica is equipped with the newer style of Micro2 and Micro3 electrical fuses. No tools are needed to access and replace the electrical fuses. There is a white plastic fuse puller tool included on the engine bay fuse block. If the tool is missing, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers with rubber insulated handles. |

Push In Right Side Tab |
Lift Off Fuse Box Cover |
The first two steps
are to open the hood and then move to the right side of the engine bay. The electrical box is located on the right of the engine air filter box, behind the 12V automotive battery and the driver side headlight assembly. As far as I can tell from searching the minivan and reading the owner's manual, this primary electrical panel in the engine bay is the only fuse box in the vehicle. Most other vehicles will have a smaller interior fuse panel which is usually located under the driver side of the dashboard, by the front passenger kick panel or in the cargo area. Gently push in the tab on the right side of the fuse box cover to release the retaining clip. Then push in the tab on the left side of the cover to release the second retaining clip. Pull the cover straight off the top of the fuse box. |

Place Jaws Over Old Fuse |
Three Blade Micro3 Fuse |
Squeeze the end of
the tool to open the jaws. Place the jaws over the fuse that you would like to check or change. Pull the old fuse straight out of the socket. The Pacifica is equipped with the newer style of Micro2 (two blade) and Micro3 (three blade) electrical fuses. |

Two Blade Micro2 Fuse |
Old Fuse Removed |
If you would like to hardwire a power source for an accessory such as a radar detector, Garmin GPS, dashcam (dash camera), a Qi wireless charging mat, DVD player or a Lyft / Uber LED sign, you can add a Micro 2 or 3 add-a-circuit fuse tap. | |
Hold Up To Light Bulb |
Replace Fuse Puller Tool |
To check the
condition of the old fuse, hold it up to a light bulb. If the thin metal strip in the translucent plastic center of the old fuse appears to be burnt or broken, the old fuse is most likely "blown" and should be replaced with a new fuse of the same amperage rating (e.g. 5A, 10A, 15A, 20A). If the thin metal bar in the middle of the old fuse looks intact, the fuse is most likely still good. Since new fuses are so inexpensive, it should still be replaced with a new fuse. Push the new fuse straight into the socket. Replace the fuse puller tool into its holder. If you suspect that you have a faulty relay, the best way to check it is to simply replace the relay with a new one. You could also check the old relay with a digital multimeter tool. |

Push On Fuse Box Cover |
Electrical Fuse Replaced |
Lower the fuse box
cover down into place. Push on the cover to secure the two retaining clips. Test the electrical component that you were having issues with such as the windshield wipers, horn, power driver's seat, radio, 12V power outlet, USB ports, headlights, tail lights, etc. If you are still having the same problem, there may be a shorted wire or the component itself needs to be replaced. Be sure to record the fuse change in your vehicle's service records. For more,
