This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the sixth generation 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and the revised or "facelifted"
2023 and 2024 Nissan Altima sedan in changing a burnt out OEM LED license
plate light bulb. Owners of other Nissan, Infiniti or related Renault vehicles such as the Rogue, X-Trail, Note, Versa, Rogue Sport / Qashqai, Maxima, Sentra, Juke, Kicks, Murano, Pathfinder, Armada, Frontier, Titan, Quest, NV200, Q50, Q60, QX50, QX60 and QX80 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) LED (light emitting diode) light housing in this 2020 Altima was marked as part number Nissan 26510-8990E (also known as 26510 8990E or 265108990E V271-31X). Note - The actual LED bulbs inside the housings are not replaceable. If the LED license plate lights stop working, I recommend first checking for a blown electrical fuse and then replacing the entire LED light housing. The first step is to open the trunk lid. Then locate the small round black pop rivet fasteners that secure the carpeted liner to the trunk lid. |

The OEM part number
of the LED license plate light housings is
Nissan 26510-8990E (also known as
26510 8990E or 265108990E V271-31X). Push in the release tab on the electrical connector before sliding it straight off the base of the old light housing. Push the power plug on to the base of a new LED light housing until it clicks securely into place. Reinsert the wires first into the opening in the trunk lid. Then pop in the other side of the light housing to secure the retaining clip. |

Test New LED Lights |
Make sure the
button head in the center of the pop rivets are in the up and unlocked
position. Push the pop rivets back into place. Push in the buttons to lock them. To test the new license plate lights, turn on the parking lights or the headlights. You could also press the "Unlock" button on the key fob. Tip - If you installed LED bulbs and they don't work, try removing them from the socket, rotate them 180 degrees and push them back into the socket. Some LED bulbs are "polarized" and will only work when the "+" positive and "-" negative electrical contacts are in the correct orientation. Be sure to write down the procedure in your vehicle's service records. Please
