This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the sixth generation 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and the revised or "face lifted" 2023 and 2024 Nissan Altima sedan in changing a burnt out low beam, high beam or front side marker light bulb in the headlight housings. (The front turn signal and fog light bulbs are located in a separate housing at the bottom of the front bumper cover.)

Owners of other Nissan, Infiniti or related Renault vehicles such as the Rogue, X-Trail, Note, Versa, Rogue Sport / Qashqai, Maxima, Sentra, Juke, Kicks, Murano, Pathfinder, Armada, Frontier, Titan, Quest, NV200, Q50, Q60, QX50, QX60 and QX80 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement light bulb part numbers are as follows: Low Beam # H11, High Beam # 9005 and Front Side Marker # W5W (or 2825).

If you'd like to have brighter headlight bulbs, install some H11 LED, 9005 LED and W5W LED units.

The tools needed to access and replace the low beam and the front side marker light bulb include a flat head screwdriver and a plastic pry bar tool.

The first two steps are to turn the front wheels in the opposite direction of the low beam or side marker light bulb you'd like to replace first. This will create more working room in the wheel well in front of the tire.

Unlock Fastener
Pop Rivet Removed
Pry Out Wheel Well Liner
Locate the black plastic pop rivet fastener in front of the tire.

Unlock the center of the pop rivet by using a flat head screwdriver.

Then pry out the base of the pop rivet and set the fastener aside in a safe place.

Use a plastic pry bar tool to gently remove the black plastic wheel well liner.

Pull Back Release Clip
Pull back the wheel well liner to access the low beam and front side marker bulb sockets.

The low beam bulb (on this 2020 Altima) has a green plastic piece with the manufacturer and part number information.

Gently pull back the clip towards the back of the car to release the electrical connector.

Try to avoid touching the glass part of the new halogen light bulb with your fingers or anything greasy in the engine bay.

If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with some rubbing alcohol and a paper towel. Any grease or oil on the new bulb may cause a hot spot that will lead to the bulb burning out prematurely.

1/4 Turn Clockwise
Push On Power Plug
Gray Side Marker Socket
Insert the new H11 bulb into the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction.

If you'd like to have a brighter low beam light bulb that will also last much longer before burning out like the halogen bulb, install a compatible replacement H11 LED bulb.

Push the power plug back on to the base of the new low beam bulb. It should "click" securely into place.

Locate the small gray plastic front side marker light bulb socket on the right of the low beam bulb.

1/4 Turn Counterclockwise
Pull Out Old Light Bulb
Push In New Light Bulb
Rotate the front side marker bulb socket 1/4 turn in the counterclockwise direction before pulling it straight out of the housing.

Pull the old light bulb straight out of the socket. Push a new number W5W miniature wedge base light bulb straight into the socket.

Wipe the new bulb clean.
