This automotive
maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the fifth
generation (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and the updated 2023 model year) Toyota
RAV4 SUV in changing a burnt out front side marker light bulb located in the
headlight housing. Owners of other Toyota and Lexus vehicles such as the Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Prius, Avalon, C-HR, GR86, Venza, Sienna, Sequoia, 4Runner, IS 250, IS 300, IS 350, ES 350, GS 350 and GX 460 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement miniature wedge base bulb part number is W5W (also known as 2825). If you'd like to have brighter side marker lights, install some W5W LED or 2825 LED units. No tools are needed to access and replace the bulbs. The first two steps are to open the hood and then move to the side of the vehicle with the burnt out front side marker light bulb. Locate the small black plastic bulb socket on the back side of the headlight housing cose to the outer edge of the vehicle. |

Pull Out Old Light Bulb |
Rotate the base of
the bulb socket 1/4 turn in the counterclockwise direction before pulling it
straight out of the housing. If the old light bulb was recently turned on, it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers. Allow the bulb to cool off before touching it. Pull the old light bulb straight out of the socket. |

Empty Bulb Housing |
Reinsert Bulb Socket |
Push a new number

the socket. If you'd like to have brighter side marker lights that will also last much longer before burning out, install some compatible replacement W5W LED units. |

New Bulb Installed |
Testing Side Marker Bulb |
Reinsert the bulb
socket into the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction to
secure it in place. To test the new front side marker light bulb, turn on the parking lights or the headlights. Tip - If the new LED bulb doesn't work, try removing it from the socket, rotating it 180 degrees and pushing it back into the socket. Some LED bulbs are "polarized" and will only work when the "+" positive and "-" negative electrical contacts are in the correct orientation. Be sure to write down the bulb change in your vehicle's service records. For more, please check out all of my
