This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the "JL" fourth generation (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023) Jeep Wrangler SUV in changing a burnt out front turn signal light bulb located in the front bumper cover.

Owners of other Jeep, Dodge and RAM vehicles such as the Grand Cherokee, Compass, Renegade, Gladiator, Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer, Wagoneer, Charger, Challenger, Durango, RAM 1500, Promaster, 2500 and 3500 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement amber colored wedge base light bulb part number is 7444NA from various manufacturers such as Sylvania and Philips.

If you'd like to have brighter front turn signal lights, install some 7444NA LED units.

The tools needed to access and replace the light bulbs include a flat head screwdriver, a pop rivet removal tool and a 10mm socket with a 1/4" or 3/8" drive ratchet.

The first two steps are to move to the side of the vehicle with the burnt out light bulb and locate the fasteners in the wheel well liner.

There is a black plastic pop rivet near the outer edge of the wheel well liner and a 10mm bolt closer to the inner edge of the tire.

Use a flat head screwdriver to pry out the center button of the pop rivet to unlock the fastener.

If the old light bulb was recently turned on, it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers. Allow the bulb to cool off before touching it.

Pull the old light bulb straight out of the socket.

1/4 Turn Clockwise
Push a new amber colored number 7444NA wedge base light bulb straight into the socket.

If you'd like to have brighter front turn signal lights that will also last much longer before burning out, install some compatible replacement 7444NA LED units.

Push the new light bulb into the socket and wipe it clean.

If you leave any grease, oil or dirt on the new halogen bulb, it may cause a hot spot and lead to the bulb failing prematurely.

Reinsert the bulb socket into the housing and rotate 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction.

Test New Light Bulb
Tighten the 10mm bolt in the clockwise direction until it is snug.

To test the new front turn signal light bulbs, turn on the hazard signals.

Tip - If you installed LED bulbs and they don't work, try removing them from the socket, rotate them 180 degrees and push them back into the socket. Some brand of LED bulbs are "polarized" and will only work when the "+" positive and "-" negative electrical contacts are in the correct orientation.

Be sure write down the bulb change in your vehicle's service records.
