This automotive
maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the second
generation (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and revised 2022) Jeep Compass
SUV in changing a burnt out low beam, high beam and front side marker light
bulb located in the headlight housings. Owners of other Jeep, Dodge and RAM vehicles such as the Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Renegade, Gladiator, Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer, Wagoneer, Charger, Challenger, Durango, RAM 1500, Promaster, 2500 and 3500 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement part numbers are as follows: Low Beam # H11, High Beam # 9005 and Front Side Marker # W5W (also known as 2825). If you'd like to have brighter headlights, install some H11 LED, 9005 LED and W5W LED units. The tools needed to access and replace the light bulbs include a flat head screwdriver or a pop rivet removal tool, an 8mm socket, a 10mm socket and a 1/4" drive ratchet. The first two steps are to open the hood and then move to the side of the vehicle with the burnt out headlight bulb. For easier access to the back of the headlight assembly, you'll need to remove the black plastic cover that sits on top of it. Unlock each of the six pop rivets by prying up the small round button in the center of each fastener with a flat head screwdriver. |

Push In Power Plug |
The OEM low beam
light bulb in this 2019 Compass Trailhawk 4X4 model was an Osram H11 12V
55W. Push the power plug on to the base of a new number H11 halogen light bulb. You should feel or hear the electrical connector "click" securely into place. Clean off the glass part of the new halogen light bulb a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol. If there is any grease or oil on the new traditional incandescent light bulb, it may cause a hot spot which could lead to the bulb burning out prematurely. If you'd like to have brighter low beam lights, install some compatible replacement H11 LED bulbs. |
