The development and release of the 7th generation Camaro has been delayed, so the current sixth generation will continue into the 2022 and 2023 model years.

The compatible replacement coin cell (also known as a "watch" or "button") battery is part number CR2032 3V which is available from various manufacturers such as Panasonic, Sony, Energizer, Maxell and Duracell.

The only tool needed to access and replace the battery is a small flat head screwdriver such as from a Jeweler's Screwdriver Set or a small plastic pry bar tool.

The first step is to locate the chrome silver button on the lower left side of the fob near the key ring attachment loop.

Set the metal ignition key aside in a safe place.

Very gently pry apart the two halves of the fob housing.

Use a gentle twisting motion to carefully pry apart the front keypad and rear case of the fob.

Try to avoid using excessive force. The fob case should pop open relatively easily.

You may need to remove and re-insert the screwdriver blade in several locations along the edge to fully separate the two halves of the fob assembly.

Set the top of the fob aside in a safe place with the green circuit board facing up towards you.

Avoid placing the green circuit board face down on a wet or dirty surface.

Use the small flat head screwdriver to gently pry the old battery out of the socket in the rear cover of the fob.

Try to avoid breaking, bending or damaging the small plastic retaining clips that secure the battery into the socket.

The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) battery in the fob for this 2020 Camaro was a Panasonic CR2032 3 volt lithium coin cell.

Push a new CR2032 battery into the holder with the "-" negative side facing down.

Make sure the retaining clips "click" securely into place over the top edge of the new battery.

Line up the two halves of the fob.

Make sure the two halves of the fob are flush together at every edge.

The ignition key should "click" securely back into place.

To test the new battery, stand near your car and press the "Unlock" or "Lock" buttons.

If the new battery is working properly, you should see the parking lights flash and hear the door locks opening or closing.

(Just changing the battery does not clear the original programming from the factory. You should not have to re-program the key fob.)

Be sure to write down the battery change in your vehicle's service records.
