This automotive
maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the S550
sixth generation 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 Ford
Mustang in changing the front windshield window wiper blades. (The 7th generation S650 Ford Mustang is supposed to be released in 2022 as a 2023 model year vehicle.) Owners of other Ford and Lincoln vehicles such as the Fusion, Taurus, Escape, EcoSport, Flex, Expedition, Bronco, Ranger, Transit, F-150, C-Max, Fiesta, Focus, Edge, MKZ, Continental, Corsair, Nautilus, Aviator and Navigator may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) wiper blade sizes in inches and part numbers are as follows: Driver Side 21" - Motorcraft WW2160 (or WW-2160) and Passenger Side 19" - Motorcraft WW1964 (or WW-1964). If you are buying aftermarket wiper blades, the driver side blade size is 22" instead of 21" and the passenger side size will still be 19". A few compatible replacement aftermarket wiper blades with their part numbers include the following: Bosch 22OE & Bosch 20OE, Rain-X 5079279-2 & Rain-X 5079277-2, Michelin 8522 & Michelin 8520 and Trico 25-220 & Trico 25-200. No tools are needed to remove and replace the wiper blades. The first step is to lift the wiper arm off the windshield until it remains in the raised position by itself. |

Rotate Away Old Blade |
Pinch Together Tabs |
Swing Out Bracket |
Rotate the old
wiper blade away from the wiper arm at a slight angle.
Locate the two triangular shaped release tabs for the retaining clips. The release tabs are shaped like "insect wings". Gently squeeze together the two release tabs and pull out the plastic mounting bracket away from the wiper arm. Continue rotating the old wiper blade away from the wiper arm. |

Lift Blade Off Hook |
Towel - Protect Glass |
Small Metal Hook |
Lift the top of the
wiper blade mounting bracket off the small metal hook at the end of the
wiper arm. Place a towel on the windshield to help protect the glass from being scratched, shattered, cracked or chipped just in case the wiper arm smacks down on to the window while you are replacing the wiper blade. |

"Insect Wing" Tabs |
Line Up Opening & Hook |
Lower Slot Over Hook |
I've always had
excellent experiences with the Bosch brand of wiper blades so I recommend
buying the Bosch 22OE &
Bosch 20OE. Line up the new wiper blade with the wiper arm. The rubber blade should be pointing away from the wiper arm. Lower the small hole at the top of the mounting bracket over the small metal hook at the top of the wiper arm. Rotate the new wiper blade until it is almost parallel with the wiper arm. |
||
Swing Blade Parallel |
Snap In Retaining Clips |
Lower Blade To Window |
Squeeze together
the two triangular shaped tabs and push the retaining clips in towards the
wiper arm. You should hear or feel the retaining clips "click" securely into place. Double check that the new wiper blade is securely attached before moving on to the next steps. Carefully lower the wiper blade back down to the windshield. For the best wiper performance, thoroughly clean off the windshield and apply a window treatment product that will water from the glass such as Rain-X. Be sure to write down the procedure in your vehicle's service records. For more,
