Rear Side Marker Light Bulb Replacement Guide
How to change a burnt out rear side
marker light bulb in a sixth generation 2015 to 2022 Ford Mustang.

This automotive
maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the S550
sixth generation 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 Ford
Mustang in changing a burnt out rear side marker light bulb in a housing
attached to the rear bumper cover. (The 7th generation S650 Ford Mustang is supposed to be released in 2022 as a 2023 model year vehicle.) Owners of other Ford and Lincoln vehicles such as the Fusion, Taurus, Escape, EcoSport, Flex, Expedition, Bronco, Ranger, Transit, F-150, C-Max, Fiesta, Focus, Edge, MKZ, Continental, Corsair, Nautilus, Aviator and Navigator may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement miniature wedge base light bulb part number is 194 which are available from manufacturers such as Sylvania, Bosch, Philips and Eiko. If you would like to have brighter rear side marker lights that will also last much longer before burning out compared to the traditional incandescent bulbs, install some 194 LED bulbs. No tools are needed to access and replace the side marker bulb on either the driver or passenger side of the vehicle. The first two steps are to move to the side of the car with the burnt out bulb and then slide under the rear bumper cover. Locate the gray plastic light bulb socket and the wire harness wrapped in black fabric tape. |

| Reach up under the
rear bumper cover towards the rear quarter panel. Rotate the bulb socket 1/4 turn in the counterclockwise direction before pulling it straight out of the housing. |

 Pull Out Old Light Bulb |

| If the old light
bulb was recently turned on, be careful when you remove it since the bulb
might still be hot enough to burn your fingers. The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) light bulb in this 2019 Mustang convertible was marked as part number 194. If necessary, you could also use a different miniature wedge base light bulb such as a number 158, 168, 2825 or W5W. |

| Push a new light
bulb straight into the socket. If you would like to have brighter rear side marker lights, install some compatible replacement 194 LED bulbs. Re-insert the socket into the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction to secure it into place. |

| To test the new
rear side marker light bulbs, turn on the parking lights.
Tip - If you installed an LED bulb and it doesn't work, try removing the bulb from the socket, rotate it 180 degrees and push it back into its socket. Some LED bulbs are "polarized" and will only work when the "+" positive and "-" negative electrical contacts are in the correct orientation. If the bulb still doesn't turn on, check your fuse box for a blown electrical fuse. Be sure to write down the bulb change in your car's service records. For more,
