This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the second generation 2015, 2016 and 2017 Chrysler 200 sedan in changing a burnt out license plate light bulb or upgrading them both to brighter LED bulbs.

Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM or Fiat vehicles such as the 300, Pacifica, Town & Country, Avenger, Charger, Challenger, Journey, Dart, Durango, Magnum, Grand Caravan, Fiat 500, Fiat 124 Spider, Grand Cherokee, Renegade, Wrangler, Compass, Liberty, Patriot, ProMaster, 1500 and C/V Tradesman minivan may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement miniature wedge base light bulb part number is 2825 (also known as # W5W).

The only tool needed to access and replace the license plate light bulbs is a standard Phillips head screwdriver.

Loosen Counterclockwise
Pull Off Lens Cover
Use a standard Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screw holding the plastic lens cover in place by turning it counterclockwise.

Set the Phillips head screw aside in a safe place.

Pull the plastic lens cover off the light housing.

Be careful when you remove the old light bulb.

If the light bulb was recently turned on, it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Pull Out Old Light Bulb
Phillips W5W Bulb
Grasp the old light bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.

The OEM light bulb was a Phillips W5W which is the same as the 2825 bulb.

Empty Bulb Socket
Push In New Light Bulb
Push a new light bulb straight in to the socket.

If you'd like to have brighter license plate lights, there are 2825 LED bulbs available.

Replace Lens Cover
Tighten Screw Clockwise
Push the plastic lens cover back in to place over the light housing.

Replace the single screw and tighten it in the clockwise direction with the Phillips head screwdriver.

Try to avoid over tightening the screw to prevent from cracking the plastic lens cover.
