How to change a burnt out dome light bulb
in a 2nd generation 2014 to 2019 Kia Soul SUV with the part number.

| This automotive
maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the 2nd
generation (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019 model years) Kia Soul in
changing a burnt out dome light bulb located in the overhead housing
attached to the headliner above the rear passenger seats (or upgrading them
both to brighter LED units). Owners of other Kia, Hyundai or Genesis vehicles such as the Niro, Sportage, Sedona, Telluride, Sorento, Rio, Forte, Optima, K900, Cadenza, Stinger, Tucson, Santa Fe, Kona, Palisade, Elantra, Sonata, Accent, Veloster, Ioniq, Nexo, Venue, G70, G80 and G90 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement festoon style light bulb part number is DE3175. If you would like to have brighter dome lights, install some DE3175 LED units. The only tool needed to access and replace the bulbs is a small flat head screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool. Locate the small notch on the outer edge of the driver side and passenger side lens covers. Insert the blade of your screwdriver into the small notch and gently pry out the lens cover. |

| Try to avoid using
excessive force.
The lens cover should pop out relatively easily. Do not pry at the inner edge (close to the "On / Off" button) since there are two plastic tabs on the side that could break off. Set the lens cover aside in a safe place. |

| If the old light
bulb was recently turned on, be careful when you remove it. The bulb might
still be hot enough to burn your fingers. Grasp the old bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket. If you have trouble removing the old light bulb, carefully use the plastic pry bar tool or a flat head screwdriver to gently pry out one of the metal end caps. Do NOT pry at the glass part of the bulb to prevent from having it shatter and send shards of glass flying into your face or eyes. The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) light bulb in this 2019 Soul was marked as part number KHA12V8W (12 volts, 8 watts) 48E10K. |

| Push a new number DE3175
light bulb straight into the socket. If you would like to have brighter dome lights that will also last a lot longer before burning out, install some compatible replacement DE3175 LED bulbs. Line up the lens cover with the opening in the light housing. |

| First, re-insert
the two tabs on the inner edge (closest to the "On / Off" switch). Then gently snap in the retaining clips on the outer edge of the lens cover. To test the new dome light bulbs, press the "ON" button in the center of the housing. Tip - If you installed an LED bulb and it doesn't work, try removing it from the socket, rotating it 180 degrees and push it back into the socket. Some LED bulbs are polarized and will only work when the "+" positive and "-" negative electrical contacts are in the correct orientation.
