Screwdriver In Notch
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the third generation (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and perhaps also the face lifted 2017 model year) Hyundai Santa Fe in changing a burnt out dome light bulb (also known as the rear passenger courtesy reading lights) in the overhead headliner housing.

Owners of other Hyundai or Kia vehicles such as the Optima, Cadenza, K900, Sorento, Sportage, Sedona, Soul, Elantra, Veloster, Sonata, Azera, Tucson, Forte, Genesis, Cerato, Spectra, Accent, Sephia, i20, i30, ix35, i40 and Equus may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement festoon or "fuse" style light bulb is part number DE3175. You can also use a brighter LED unit.

The only tool needed to access and replace the map light bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool.

Lens Cover Removed
To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, you may choose to cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or instead use a plastic pry bar tool.

Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in to one of the two notches on the front edge of the lens cover.

Gently pry out the lens cover and set it aside in a safe place.

You may need to re-insert the screwdriver in to the other notch to fully remove the lens cover. Try to avoid using excessive force. The lens should pop out relatively easily.

Pull the old light bulb straight out of the socket.

If the old bulb was recently turned on, be careful since it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Plastic Tabs - Rear Edge
Test the new light bulbs by pressing the "On/Off" button.

If you installed LED bulbs and they don't work at first, they might be polarized. Try flipping them around in their sockets.
