This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the ninth generation (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and maybe also the 2016) Honda Civic in changing the front windshield window wiper blades.

Owners of other Honda or Acura vehicles such as the Accord, Crosstour, CR-V, CR-Z, Fit, Insight, Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline, ILX, TSX, TLX, TL, RLX, RDX and MDX may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

Rotate Blade Away
The first step is to lift the wiper arm off the windshield until it stays in the raised position by itself.

Then pry open the black plastic locking tab at the center of the old wiper blade with a small flathead screwdriver.

Swing the lock tab up and rotate the old wiper blade away from the arm at a slight angle.

Slide the old wiper blade down to disengage the plastic mounting bracket from the metal hook at the end of the arm.

Line Up Blade & Arm
Continue rotating the blade until it is perpendicular with the metal wiper arm.

Pass the hook at the end of the arm through the opening in the old wiper blade.

Place a towel on the windshield to protect the window from being chipped, cracked or shattered just in case the metal wiper arm smacks down on to the glass.

I'd recommend buying the Bosch 26-CA and Bosch 22-CA wiper blades since they have the best reviews on Amazon.

Slide Bracket In Hook
Hold the new wiper blade at a perpendicular angle to the metal arm.

Pass the metal hook at the end of the arm through the opening in the new blade.

Rotate the new blade until it is almost parallel with the wiper arm.

Slide the plastic mounting bracket at the center of the new wiper blade up in to the metal hook.

The mounting bracket should "click" securely in to place.

Lower Wiper To Window
Snap the black plastic locking tab closed to secure the new wiper blade.

Gently lower the wiper assembly to the windshield.

For the best wiper performance, I'd recommend thoroughly cleaning the windshield and applying a window treatment product such as Rain-X or Zaino Glass Polish.
