Gently Pry Out Lens Cover
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the fourth generation (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015) Hyundai Accent in changing a burnt out incandescent map light bulb in the overhead console or replace them both with brighter LED units.

Owners of other Hyundai or Kia vehicles such as the Tucson, Elantra, Sonata, Azera, Veloster, Tiburon, Genesis, Lavita, Veracruz, Santa Fe, ix20, i20, ix35, Fluidic Verna, Equus, Cadenza, Forte, Optima, Rio, Soul, Sedona, Sorento, Spectra and Sportage may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A replacement festoon or "fuse" style bulb is part number DE3175, which is available from manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Eiko and PIAA.

If you would like to have brighter map lights, install some compatible replacement DE3175 LED bulbs.

The only tool needed to replace the bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver used to pry out the lens cover.

Old Bulb Exposed
To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, you may choose to cover the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or use a plastic automotive pry tool.

Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in between the front inner edge of the lens cover and the overhead console.

Gently pry out the front edge of the lens cover and then remove the plastic hooks near the rear edge of the lens cover.

Set the lens cover aside in a safe place.

Old # DE3175 Festoon Bulb
If the old bulb was recently illuminated, be careful since it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers.

Grasp the old bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket.

Push In New DE 3175 Bulb
Push a new # DE3175 "festoon" style bulb in to the socket.

I'd recommend buying the Sylvania DE3175 LL long life light bulbs since they tend to last a very long time.

(Tip: If you are installing a DE3175 LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, try removing it from the socket and flipping it around in the opposite direction.)
