This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the 5th generation or "Generation V" (2008, 2009, 2010,
2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014) Dodge Grand Caravan in changing the
rear windshield window wiper blade. Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or RAM minivan, SUV or hatchback vehicles with similar rear window wiper arms such as the Town & Country, Durango, Journey, Patriot, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Compass, C/V Tradesman and ProMaster van may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The replacement rear wiper blade is 16" (inches) in size. A few compatible new blades with their part numbers include the following: Rain-X 5079274-1, Bosch 16-CA, Michelin 8516, Silblade FB116, Trico 16-E, Motorcraft WW-1601-PF, PIAA # 97040, Bosch 4816, Anco C-16-UB and ACDelco 8-4416. No tools are needed to change the rear window wiper blade. |

Pull Old Blade Off Arm |
Old Blade Off Metal Hook |
The first step is
to pull the rear wiper arm away from the window. Then rotate the old wiper blade away from the metal wiper arm at a slight angle. Press the two pronged release tab in towards the metal wiper arm. Slide the old wiper blade to the left to disengage the mounting bracket from the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm. Pull the old wiper blade off the metal wiper arm. Don't let the metal wiper arm slap against the glass! I'd recommend buying either the Rain-X 5079274-1 or the Bosch 16-CA since they have excellent reviews on Amazon. |

Slide Bracket In Hook |
Gently lower the wiper arm back to the glass. Line up the mounting bracket in the center of the new wiper blade with the wiper arm. Pass the metal hook at the end of the wiper arm through the opening in the new blade. |

Rotate Blade Parallel To Arm |
Rest Wiper Arm On Window |
Slide the new wiper
blade over to the right to insert the mounting bracket in to the metal hook. You should hear or feel the mounting bracket "click" in to place. Double check that the new blade is securely attached to the wiper arm. Lower the wiper blade down against the glass. For optimum wiper performance, I'd recommend thoroughly cleaning the window and applying a window treatment product such as Rain-X that will repel water. For more, check out my other
