This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the sixth generation "B16" (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 &
2012) Nissan Sentra sedan in cleaning or changing the A/C system's
cabin air filter element. Owners of other Nissan vehicles with similar HVAC blower motor housings such as the Versa, Cube, Altima, Maxima, Leaf, Pathfinder, 370Z, Juke, Rogue, Xterra, Murano and Quest may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A few compatible replacement filters with their part numbers include the following: Purolator C25864, TYC 800126P, Fram CF10550, Wix 49352, Premium Guard PC5864, Hastings AFC1251, Mann MC 1069, Bosch C3907WS, Pentius PHB5864, Beck Arnley 042-2157 and Mahle LA 396. No tools are needed to replace the filter. A wet/dry shop vacuum can be useful for cleaning and reusing the existing element. |

Plastic Filter Access Cover |
To access the cabin
air filter, you'll first need to remove the plastic kick panel on the
driver's side next to the gas pedal. Gently pull the kick panel straight off to disengage the plastic friction fasteners. Set the panel aside in a safe place. Just to the right of the accelerator or "gas" pedal, you'll see the rectangular black plastic filter access cover. |

You will need to compress the filter and bend it a bit forward in order to slide it out past the metal bar and the gas pedal. | ||

Inspect Both Sides |
Clean With Vacuum |
Compress & Re-Insert |
Inspect both sides
of the filter. If the old filter is relatively clean, just tap out any large debris and remove any fine dust with a vacuum. If the old filter is dark grey or black and clogged with pollen, dirt, twigs, leaves, insect and hair, it should be replaced with a new element. I'd recommend using the TYC 800126P cabin air filter since it has the best reviews on Amazon. |

Slide In Cabin Filter |
New Filter Installed In Slot |
Line Up Filter Cover |
If the new filter
has an "Air Flow" arrow, it should be pointed towards the rear of the
vehicle. Compress the pleats of the new cabin filter and slide it in to the slot. Continue sliding in the new filter until it is flush with the opening in the blower motor housing. |
||
Attach Hook Tab On Top |
Snap On Clip At Bottom |

Line up the filter
cover and lower the small hook and tab on the top of the slot. Swing the filter cover closed and snap the retaining clip on the bottom in place. Make sure that the filter cover is securely in place. |
