Key Fob Battery Replacement Guide
How to replace the coin cell battery in
the smart key fob remote control of a 4th generation 2007 to 2012 Nissan Altima.

| This
automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners
of the 4th generation 2007 to 2012 Nissan Altima in replacing coin
cell battery in the smart or "intelligent" key fob remote control
for the keyless entry system. Owners of other Nissan or Infiniti vehicles such as the Versa, Maxima, Juke, Rogue, Murano, Xterra, Pathfinder, Sentra, Cube, Armada, Quest, Frontier, Titan, G25, G37, M35 and M37 may also find this guide to be helpful. The battery inside the key fob is a Panasonic CR2032 3V coin, "watch" or "button" cell battery. I'd recommend buying a 5 pack of new CR 2032 batteries on Amazon. Many common household devices such as guard gate clickers and toll road transponders use the CR 2032 cell. The only tool needed to replace the coin cell battery in a Nissan Altima smart key fob is a small flathead screwdriver. |

| The first step is
to slide the switch on the back of the fob and release the physical car key
that is stored inside.
Then locate the small notch located on the left side of the key fob and insert the small flathead screwdriver. |

| Carefully pry apart
the two halves of the key fob with the flathead screwdriver while holding
the opposite side of the remote.
If you have trouble getting the fob halves to separate, try turning the flathead screwdriver while moving it up or down. Once the two halves are apart, you can pry out the old Panasonic CR2032 3V battery with the flathead screwdriver. Don't insert the screwdriver near the metal battery contacts so as to avoid damaging them. |

 Snap Together Two Halves |
| Pop in a new
CR2032 3V battery with the negative "-" side facing up towards you.
Then line up the two halves of the smart key fob and gently snap them together. Check that the two halves rest flush against each other all the way around the fob. |

| To finish the job, re-insert the
physical car key and then go test the smart key fob's buttons next to your
Altima. Be sure to record the battery
change in your vehicle's service records. |
