This automotive
maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the fifth
generation (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and the updated 2023 model year) Toyota
RAV4 SUV in changing a burnt out front turn signal light bulb located in the
headlight housing. Owners of other Toyota and Lexus vehicles such as the Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Prius, Avalon, C-HR, GR86, Venza, Sienna, Sequoia, 4Runner, IS 250, IS 300, IS 350, ES 350, GS 350 and GX 460 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) front turn signal light bulb part number is HT7444NA (12V28/8W). The compatible replacement aftermarket light bulb part number is 7444NA (also known as 7444A). If you'd like to have brighter front turn signal light bulbs that will also last much longer before burning out like the traditional incandescent bulbs, install some 7444NA LED units. No tools are needed to access and replace the bulbs. The first two steps are to open the hood and move to the side of the vehicle with the burnt out light bulb. |

Turn Signal Bulb Socket |
1/4 Turn Counterclockwise |
Pull Out Old Light Bulb |
The front turn
signal light bulb is situated at the inner corner of the headlight housing
(closer to the center line of the vehicle). Reach in behind the headlight assembly and locate the round gray plastic turn signal bulb socket. Rotate the bulb socket 1/4 turn in the counterclockwise direction before pulling it straight out of the housing. If the old light bulb was recently turned on, it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers. Allow the old light bulb to cool off before touching it. Pull the old light bulb straight out of the socket. If you have trouble removing a stuck or stubborn light bulb, put on some gloves and try gently wiggling it back and forth while pulling it straight out. The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) light bulb in this 2019 Toyota RAV4 was marked as part number HT7444NA (12V28/8W). |

Push In New Light Bulb |
Push a new number
7444NA (also known as 7444A)
amber colored light bulb straight into the socket. If you'd like to have brighter front turn signal light bulbs, install some compatible replacement 7444NA LED units. Clean off the new bulb with a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol or a micro fiber cloth. Any grease or oil left on the new bulb could cause a hot spot and lead to the bulb burning out prematurely. |

1/4 Turn Clockwise |
Test New Turn Signal |
Bulb Change Complete |
Reinsert the bulb
socket into the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction to
secure it into place. To test the new front turn signal light bulbs, activate the hazard signals. Tip - If you installed an LED bulb and it doesn't work, try removing it from the socket, rotating it 180 degrees and pushing it back into the socket. Some LED bulbs are "polarized" and will only work when the "+" positive and "-" negative electrical contacts are in the correct orientation. Be sure to write down the bulb change in your vehicle's service records. For more, please check out all of my
