After visiting Playa Ensenada in the San Carlos fishing village, we drove a few miles north on the Pan American Highway to the Nueva Gorgona area to see Playa Gorgona.

There are several hotels, resorts and residential options in Nueva Gorgona that are operating or being built.

The entrance to the area was packed with signs for various developments including GoGo Beach Tower, Gorgona OceanFront, Cabanas Playa Gorgona, Cabanas Villanita, and Crystal Bay.

This peaceful area is only about 80 km (about 50 miles) from Panama City and we visited on a Friday. That explains the huge amount of traffic we saw pouring out of the city as we were heading back to the hotel.
