This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 Ford Edge CUV in replacing the key fob remote control's battery.

Owners of other Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicles such as the Taurus, Fiesta, Fusion, Focus, Mustang, Flex, Ranger, F-150, Escape, Explorer, Expedition, MKZ, MKX, MKS, MKT, Navigator, Milan, Mariner, Mountaineer, Grand Marquis & Town Car may also find this guide to be helpful.

Depending on how often you get in and out of your Ford Edge, the original coin cell battery in the keyless entry system could last just a few years or as long as a decade.

The only tool needed to replace the Panasonic CR 2032 battery in the key fob is a small flathead screwdriver. A coin, butter knife or other similar object would also work.

Start by removing the metal key ring from the combination car key and keyless entry remote control unit. Then locate the notch on the edge of the key fob near the red "Panic" button. Use the screw driver, coin or butter knife to wedge apart the two halves of the remote control.

Pry out the old Panasonic CR 2032 3V coin or "watch" battery and push in a new one with the "+" side facing upwards. If you have the time to wait for it, I'd recommend buying new batteries on eBay where you can get 5 cells for about 99 cents.

Once the new battery is in place, align the bottom cover of the key fob back in place and push the two halves together until you hear a "click". Double check that the two halves are securely attached to each other and then replace the key ring.
