Southernmost
Point of the Continental USA - Key West, FL
Pictures & visitor info from a trip to the Southernmost Point of the Continental
United States monument in Key West, Florida.
One of the
"must do" tourist activities in Key West is to go visit the
"Southernmost Point of the Continental United States". The point is represented by a large multi-colored concrete structure in the shape of a buoy. On the buoy are the words "90 Miles To Cuba" and also the symbol of the Conch Republic. You can find the point at the southernmost part of Key West at the intersection of Whitehead Street and South Street. It will be obvious that you're getting close when you see various business with the word "Southernmost" in their name such as the Southernmost Hotel, Southernmost Deli, and the Southernmost Guest House. To avoid the crowds that tend to gather at the point in the afternoon, go early in the morning. |
