light bulb in the trunk of a 2016, 2017 & 2018 Nissan Maxima sports sedan.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the eighth generation (2016, 2017, 2018 and probably also
the 2019 and 2020 model years) Nissan Maxima sports sedan in
changing a burnt out cargo area light bulb located in the trunk. Owners of other Nissan or Infiniti vehicles such as the Versa, Altima, Juke, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Murano, Xterra, Pathfinder, Sentra, Cube, Armada, Leaf, Quest, Frontier, 370Z, GT-R, Titan, Kicks, NV, NV200, G25, G37, M35 and M37 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement miniature wedge base light bulb part number is 158. You can also use a brighter 158 LED bulb. No tools are needed to access and replace the trunk light bulb. |

Pull Back Release Tab |
Flip Open Dome Cover |
The first two steps
are to open the trunk lid and then locate the light housing on the "ceiling"
of the trunk near the bottom part of the rear deck speakers. Gently pull back the plastic release tab. Swing down the lens cover to expose the old light bulb. If the old light bulb was recently turned on, be careful when you remove it. The old bulb might still be hot enough to burn your fingers. |
|
Pull Out Old Light Bulb |
Old Light Bulb Removed |
Pull the old light bulb straight out of the socket. | |
|
|
Empty Bulb Socket |
Push In New Light Bulb |
Push a new
miniature wedge base # 158 light
bulb straight into the socket. If you would like to have a brighter trunk light, install a compatible replacement 158 LED bulb. The new bulb should have turned on instantly when you pushed it into the socket. (Tip - If you are installing an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, try pulling it out, rotating the electrical contacts 180 degrees before pushing it back into the socket. Some LED bulbs are polarized and can only be installed in one orientation.) |
|
Snap Closed Lens Cover |
Test New Trunk Light Bulb |
Swing the lens
cover closed over the new bulb. Gently pop the lens cover back into place until you hear or feel the retaining clip "click". If the new trunk light bulb didn't turn on immediately, re-activate the interior lights by pressing the "Unlock" button on the key fob. Please
