Maxima.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the eighth generation (2016, 2017, 2018 and probably also
the 2019 and 2020 model years) Nissan Maxima sports sedan in
changing a burnt out low beam, high beam, front turn signal and side
marker light bulb in the headlight housings. Owners of other Nissan or Infiniti vehicles such as the Versa, Altima, Juke, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Murano, Xterra, Pathfinder, Sentra, Cube, Armada, Leaf, Quest, Frontier, 370Z, GT-R, Titan, Kicks, NV, NV200, G25, G37, M35 and M37 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement light bulb part numbers are as follows: Low Beam # H11, High Beam # H9, Front Turn Signal # 7444NA and Front Side Marker # 2825 (or W5W). The tools needed to complete this procedure include a standard Phillips head screwdriver and a flathead screwdriver. |

Under Front Bumper |
Loosen Phillips Screw |
Screw Removed |
The low beam
headlight bulbs can be accessed by partially removing the wheel well liner. For easier access to the wheel well liner, turn the steering wheel all the way in the opposite direction of the burnt out low beam headlight bulb. Look under the front bumper cover and locate the single Phillips head screw at the rear corner. Remove the screw by turning it in the counterclockwise direction with the Phillips head screwdriver. Set the screw aside in a safe place. |

Pull Back Liner |
Wheel Well Liner Opened |
Base of Low Beam Bulb |
Gently pull back
the black plastic wheel well liner. You may choose to bend the liner and wedge it against the tire to hold it in place. Once the wheel well liner is out of the way, you'll be able to access the base of the old low beam light bulb on the rear of the headlight assembly. |

Push in the release tab on the electrical connector before pulling it straight off the base of the old light bulb. | ||

Empty Bulb Housing |
Install New Low Beam |
1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Avoid touching the
glass part of the new halogen light bulb with your fingers or anything
greasy in the wheel well or engine bay. If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol. Insert a new number H11 low beam light bulb into the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction to secure it into place. |
||
Push On Power Plug |
Outside Edge - Side Marker |
Long Black Plastic Handle |
Push the electrical
connector straight on to the base of the new low beam bulb until it clicks
securely into place. The side marker light bulb is located at the outer edge of the headlight housing. The side marker bulb socket can also be accessed through the wheel well liner. |
||
1/4 Turn Counterclockwise |
Pull Out Old Light Bulb |
Push In New Light Bulb |
Locate the long
black plastic handle. Rotate the handle 1/4 turn in the counterclockwise direction before pulling the side marker bulb socket straight out of the housing. Pull the old light bulb straight out of the socket. Push a new number 2825 miniature wedge base light bulb straight into the socket. If you'd like to have brighter side marker lights, install some compatible 2825 LED bulbs. |

Replace Liner & Screw |
High Beam & Turn Signal |
Re-insert the bulb
socket into the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it into
place. Push the black plastic wheel well liner back into place. Replace the Phillips head screw under the front bumper cover by turning it in the clockwise direction to secure the wheel well liner. The front turn signal and high beam bulbs are located closer to the inner edge of the housing. |

Pry Up Center of Pop Rivet |
Pop Rivet Removed |
Pull Out Filler Tube |
For easier access
to the bulbs on the passenger side, I recommend removing the windshield
washer fluid fill tube.
Pry up the center of the black plastic pop rivet to unlock it and then pry out the base of the fastener. Set the pop rivet aside in a safe place. Pull the washer fluid filler tube straight out of the engine bay. |
||
Rotate 1/4 Turn CC |
Front Turn Signal Socket |
Bulb Socket Removed |
If you have smaller
hands, you may be able to reach in and remove the front turn signal light
bulb socket. I had to use a flathead screwdriver to rotate the socket 1/4 turn in the counterclockwise direction and then I was able to pull it out of the housing. |
||
Pull Out Old Light Bulb |
Push In New Light Bulb |
Re-Insert Bulb Socket |
Pull the old turn
signal light bulb straight straight out of the socket. Push in a new amber colored number 7444NA light bulb straight into the socket. Re-insert the bulb socket into the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction to secure it in place. |
||

1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Reach In To High Beam |
If you have trouble
turning the turn signal bulb socket, use a flathead screwdriver to rotate it
1/4 turn in the clockwise direction. To remove the high beam light bulb, reach in behind the headlight housing and rotate the base of the old bulb 1/4 turn in the counterclockwise direction. |
||

||
Push On Power Plug |
1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Push In Wiper Fluid Tube |
Avoid touching the
glass part of the new halogen high beam bulb with your fingers.
If you do get the new bulb dirty, clean it with a paper towel and rubbing alcohol. Insert the new high beam bulb into the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction to secure it into place. Push the windshield window washer fluid filler tube back into place. |
||
Push In Pop Rivet |
Test New High Beam |
Testing Low Beam Bulb |
Re-insert the pop
rivet and push in the center piece to lock it into place. To test the new light bulbs, turn on the headlights, activate the hazard signals and flash the high beams. Be sure to record the bulb change in your car's service records. Please
