Locate A/C Filter Cover
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020) Infiniti QX60 luxury SUV in cleaning or changing the A/C system's cabin air filter element in the HVAC blower motor housing.

Owners of other Infiniti and Nissan vehicles such as the JX35, Q50, Q60, Q70, QX50, QX70, QX80, Pathfinder, Murano, Rogue, Armada, Kicks, Frontier, Titan, NV, NV200, 370Z, GT-R, Leaf, Maxima, Altima, Sentra and Versa might also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A few compatible replacement filters with their part number are as follows: Spearhead BE-776, Fram CF11776, Ecogard XC10020, EPAuto CP776, TYC 800177P and Bosch 6079C.

No tools are required to access and replace the cabin air filter.

A wet/dry shop vacuum may be useful for cleaning the old filter in order to re-use it.

The cabin air filter slot may be accessed under the glove box on the left side of the front passenger footwell.

I found it difficult to get a grip on the edge of the old filter with my fingers.

So I used a pair of needle nose pliers to pull out the bottom corner of the old filter.

Once you get the edge of the filter out of the slot, slightly compress the pleats of the filter like an accordion.

Continue pulling out the old filter and angle it down under the glove box.

The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) filter in this 2020 QX60 was marked as part number 272779NM0A.

You'll notice that there is an arrow on the outer edge of the filter that indicates the direction of the air flow.

Check Slot For Debris
Inspect both sides of the old air filter.

If the old filter is dark grey or black and clogged with dirt, dust, sand, soot, pollen, hair, insects, leaves, twigs and other debris, it should be replaced with a new element.

I recommend buying the Spearhead BE-776 cabin air filter since it has excellent reviews on Amazon from other QX60 owners.

If the old filter is relatively clean, just tap out the large debris and remove any fine dust with a wet/dry shop vacuum.

Check the filter slot in the HVAC blower motor housing for any large debris such as twigs, leaves or dragonflies.

If your vacuum has a crevice attachment, clean out the filter slot.

Line Up Filter Cover
Slide the new filter straight into the slot.

You will need to insert the filter at an angle to clear the bottom of the glove box.

(Some QX60 owners choose to remove the entire glove box to make this process easier, but the procedure isn't that difficult although it requires some uncomfortable maneuvering to access and replace the filter.)

Filter Change Done!
Orientate the filter access cover with the straight tab on the top edge.

Slide the tab into the slot on the top edge of the filter slot.

Swing the bottom edge of the filter cover towards the center stack.

Push on the bottom of the filter cover to secure the retaining clip.

You should hear or feel the retaining clip "click" securely into place.

Double check that the filter cover is securely attached to the HVAC blower motor housing.

The service interval specification in the owner's manual for the cabin air filter is to replace it every 15,000 miles or at least every 18 months.

Be sure to write down the filter change in your vehicle's service records.
