This
automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners
of the 6th generation (2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014) Hyundai Sonata in
replacing a burnt out overhead dome light bulb or installing a brighter
LED bulb. Owners of other Hyundai or Kia vehicles such as the Elantra, Accent, Veloster, Tucson, Santa Fe, Veracruz, Genesis, Forte, Optima, Rio, Soul, Sedona, Sorento, Tiburon and Sportage may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A replacement bulb for the overhead dome light is part # DE3022 from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, Eiko, Philips, GE and PIAA. You can also use a brighter DE3022 LED bulb. The only tool needed to replace the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver. Use the blade of the flathead screwdriver to gently pry out the dome light's translucent plastic lens cover. |

To help avoid
damaging the dome light bulb housing, cover the blade of the flathead
screwdriver with a thin cloth or some tape.
Pry at several locations around the translucent lens cover until it can be pulled off the dome light bulb housing. Grasp the old # DE3022 bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it out of its socket. If you are installing an LED bulb and it doesn't work at first, try flipping it around in the socket. |
