This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the
third generation (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 & 2011) Honda CR-V in
changing a burnt out vanity mirror light bulb in the sun visor or
upgrading them to brighter LED units. Owners of other Honda or Acura vehicles with similar vanity mirror lights such as the Pilot, Insight, CR-Z, Accord, Civic, Fit, Crosstour, Odyssey, Ridgeline, TSX, ILX, TLX, TL, RLX, RDX and MDX may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A few compatible replacement miniature "fuse" style light bulbs with their part numbers include the following: 6614F, Eiko # 40842, ACDelco # 13502343, TS-14V1CP, Bulbrite 756320 - 6614F and Putco 230003 LED. The only tool needed to change the bulb is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool used to pry out the translucent lens cover. |

Insert Flathead Screwdriver |
Pull Off Lens Cover |
Pry Out Metal End Cap |
To prevent from
scratching the plastic surfaces, you may choose to cover the tip of your
screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth. Carefully insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in to the notch at the bottom of the translucent plastic lens cover. Gently pop out the lens cover and set it aside in a safe place. If the old bulb was recently illuminated, be careful since it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers. Either pull out the old bulb with your fingers or carefully pry it out at the lower metal end cap with the flathead screwdriver. Only pry on the metal end caps of the old bulb. Do not apply pressure to the glass part of the bulb to prevent from having it shatter. |

Remove Old Bulb |
Old Miniature Fuse Bulb |
Empty Bulb Socket |
Push In New # 6614F |
New Bulb Installed |
Line Up Lens Cover |
Push in a new
miniature "fuse" style bulb such as the
Eiko 40842 - 6614F,
TS-14V1CP or the
ACDelco # 13502343. Tip: If you install an LED bulb and it won't work at first, try flipping it around in the socket. Some LED bulbs are polarized and will only work when the + positive and - negative electrical contacts are in the correct orientation. If the new bulb is working properly, it should light up immediately when you push it in to the socket. |
