Owners of other L67 engine equipped vehicles including the Buick Park Avenue Ultra, the Buick Regal GS, Chevy Impala SS, Monte Carlo SS, Holden Commodore, Monaro, Olds Eighty-Eight LSS, and the Pontiac Bonneville, may also find this guide useful.

The tools you'll need include a floor jack, jack stands, a used oil catch container, 4.5 U.S. quarts of new SAE 10W-30 oil, a new oil filter, a 15mm wrench, a funnel, and an oil filter wrench such as the Lisle 63600.

Warm up the engine for a few minutes so that the old oil will flow out quickly and to suspend any pollutant particles that are inside the crankcase.

Once it reaches near operating temperature, turn off the engine.

Now you can raise the car using the floor jack and then place jack stands under the car as a safety backup.

The oil drain plug is located on the bottom of the oil sump pan and was marked with yellow paint on my car.

Remove the oil filler cap, place the catch container below the car and remove the oil drain plug with a 15mm wrench or a 15mm socket with a ratcheting wrench.

Go take a break and let the old engine oil drain for a few minutes.

This would also be a good time to perform an Eaton M90 Supercharger Oil Change if you haven't before.

Lube up the new filter's rubber o-ring with some new oil.

Some of the oil filters that will fit the L67 include the Purolator PureONE PL10111, Purolator L10111, Fram PH3387A, ACDelco PF47E, Mobil 1 M1-101, K&N PS-1001, Pennzoil HPZ-9A, Wix 51040 and Bosch 3331.

Wipe off the oil filter receptacle and screw on the new filter hand tight.

With the oil drain bolt securely tightened by hand and the new oil filter in place, you can now remove the catch container, lower the car off the jack and put the funnel into the oil fill port.

The 2001 Grand Prix GTP owner's manual calls for four and a half quarts of oil for which I have chosen Mobil 1 10W-30 synthetic blend.

Just put in 4 quarts of oil to start, then warm up the engine and check the level on the dipstick.

Slowly add the last .5 quart until the dipstick indicates that the oil level is just below the maximum line.

Then check under the car for any leaks, and you're done.

Record the oil change details such as vehicle mileage and the date and put it in your glove box for safe-keeping.

A good set of maintenance records can mean hundreds of extra dollars in your pocket if you ever sell your car.
